The First Weekend

In Chapel Hill what once was a promising season (thought to be a contender for an ACC Division Title and no I don't know which one but I am pretty sure it doesn't matter) things have gone from bad (NCAA investigation regarding improper contact between players and agents), to worse (investigation expanded to include academic violations by athletes) to outsiders wondering if Butch Davis and UNC AD Dick Baddour will survive the scandal. The Tarheels will be without 15 players for Saturday’s opener against LSU.

Speaking of fun times, the Georgia Bulldogs are going for double digits and the Reverend Mark Richt is feeling the heat.

Steve Spurrier held a number of players out of last night's game. Here is some insight why he did it.

Marcell Dareus extends an interesting streak by the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide.

SEC Football schedules.

Jeremy Foley is working hard to make sure the Gators win championships in more than just football and basketball.

Ole Miss already has one win under their belt.

This week's picks - lines courtesy of Vegas Insiders:

Missouri over Illinois by more than the number.

Florida over Miami (OH) by a ton. Over the total as well.

UConn upsets Michigan making life miserable for RichRod.

TCU wins but Oregon St. covers.

LSU beats UNC by more than 2 touchdowns, in what figures to be an ugly game.
Not too often does a team open with the best team on its schedule, but Boise St. has done it on consecutive years. The Broncos beat the Hokies sending all the ESPN college football analysts into a frenzy.
