Florida -12 first downs, 89 yards rushing. 243 total yards. Brantley had 154 yards, no TD’s and one pick (but this isn’t his fault).
If not for a kickoff return the Swamp is empty by the 4th quarter.
And LSU with 224 freakin’ yard passing! Even after Saturday, LSU is the 109th ranked passing offense in college football averaging 147 ypg. The Florida defense made the 2 LSU QB’s look like Heisman contenders.
Yet, with 8 more first downs and 142 more total yards it came down to the next to last play for LSU. When you are put into a position to win the defense simply cannot give up the length of the field in a little over 3 minutes.
Our defense let us down, and folded like a primo beef burrito when it most mattered. Our senior laden offensive line is horrible, resulting in John Brantley looking like David Carr during his first year in the pros.
We can dwell on whether Tolliver’s last TD was a catch, or whether the fake field goal was a lateral (I think the answer to both is “yes”), but where was the coaching? Everyone knew it was probably a fake (evidently the TV coverage did), yet we go for a block on a 53 yarder (that was to tie the game)?
We are a completely average team headed to a 7-5 season (look for losses to South Carolina and at FSU, and another random thrown in – maybe this weekend?) And if, as a poll ranker, you are crediting ‘Bama with a big win over us, look again.
